Gears of War 4 releases October 11th, whilst there has been some new multiplayer details at PAX this weekend some things are still under wraps, Xbox.com (via New Zealand region) has given us some details on the Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4.
Costing $150 (New Zealand dollars) it includes Gears of War 4, the Seasons Pass and Vintage Del Multiplayer Character, as well as 4 days early access to the game which means that rather than waiting until October 11th, you can play it on October 7th. The game also requires 70-80gb of storage space.
Ultimate Edition description:
The Seasons Pass is probably the second most interesting bit here except for the early access stuff, referred to as the “VIP Experience”.
5 digital items, permanent ownership over the free DLC – for those confused the maps are free to play in matchmaking but if you want to play them in private matches you need to buy them (24 additional maps might be new though?), early access to new modes, maps and variants and various other “Gear Packs” which give other in-game abilities, skins etc.
The Seasons Pass is a bit of a disappointment, with Gears of War 3 you got the entirely new campaign section called Raam’s Shadow which was a very interesting piece of content focused on much earlier in the Gears of War timeline as you control Kim and his team fighting off against Raam before the events of Gears of War 1. That said it depends how much the Seasons Pass is, perhaps that is not all the content included.
$150 dollars (New Zealand!) is £71 which isn’t a terrible price for the game, early access and seasons pass, we’ll have to see what all the different options are when they announce them for both digital and at retail, I am hoping for another nice Limited Edition with a statue and other goodies.
The continued lack of Horde Mode mentioning is getting a bit concerning too but with E3 in about 6/7 weeks hopefully it will confirmed then or before
