2016 Most Wanted

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Human Revolution was a huge surprise hit for me, I loved the stealth RPG style which worked really well and being a prequel to the original two games it meant I needed next to no knowledge of the franchise already. Eidos Montreal certainly earned my trust (I even quite liked Thief…) so August can’t come soon enough

Quantum Break

Remedy are one of my favourite developers, Alan Wake was incredible and American Nightmare was a good smaller scale game in the franchise, Quantum Break has been a long time coming but I think it will be Remedy’s best game yet, it looks incredible, no expense seems to have been spared on it and its an evolution of the time manipulating gameplay of Max Payne with the great story telling of Alan Wake.

Gears of War 4

Gears ofFour

Gears is back with Rod and The Coalition at the helm, if you know me you know I love Gears and its one of my favourite franchises. The work done on Ultimate Edition with the art style and the way they respond to the community is gives me hope that they will be able to continue the franchise in a big way.

The beta in Spring will be very interesting to see, it will give us a good idea of what they are aiming for with certain things and I can’t wait to see more at E3 before it finally releases in the holidays.

A collaboration between Armature Studios, Comcept and Microsoft, what I like about ReCore is the focus they have given us so far on the world and the story within it, humans are basically extinct and Joule along with her robot dog companion Mack are trying to bring them back.

Gameplay details are scarce but I like what they have said so far, the CGI trailer at E3 looked really intriguing and hopefully some gameplay details aren’t too far away.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

The Stick of Truth was a great South Park game that perfectly encapsulated the TV show and turned it into a game, I am cautious about Ubisoft San Francisco developing the game but I hope they have taken Obsidian’s game on last-gen and just building directly off that. South Park is a great show, hopefully they can keep up the quality

Horizon Zero Dawn

I like Guerrilla Games, I always have done since Killzone 2, I liked 2/3 although Shadow Fall was very disappointing, a new IP from them with robot dinosaurs, female protagonist and a large-scale RPG is the sort of game I can get excited for. Its been a while in development but what we’ve seen so far looks really great, hopefully it hits this year and is a great game.

Far Cry Primal

Whilst the Far Cry franchise of today is a far cry from the Crytek original which I enjoyed I enjoy the games a lot and I’m glad to see a new one coming out so soon. The single player focus is great given the garbage multiplayer of Far Cry 4 although I would have liked it if they had kept the online co-op of that game.

The setting is different, no guns, set a long time ago and lots of awesome animals hunting around, hopefully its a really good diversion for the franchise.

I finally got around to play Dead Nation this year on PS4 and I enjoyed it a lot so I’m really interested in seeing what Alienation is like, Housemarque are a great studio although I must admit I didn’t play much of Outland or Golf Tee It Up! on XBLA last generation and I’m not a fan of Super Stardust or Resign but I like how Alienation looks and Matterfall seems quite interesting too.

Earth has been overrun by aliens and with a massive amount of firepower you need to fight back against the aliens, it also has co-op which is pretty cool and has great looking effects.

Adam Orth’s first game with his new studio after leaving Microsoft is an immersive space adventure, as an Astronaut with your crew members dead, space station destroyed and no memory of what happened, you need to stay alive and try to find out what happened as you fight to stay alive.

It looks really interesting and is also an Oculus VR game as well as PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4, I like space games so hopefully this will match my expectations.
